Il est important de prendre en considération que ces statistiques ne reflètent que le contenu de la base de données du RNCSC à un instant précis, c'est-à-dire les observations de PAN/OVNI en France recensés sur le Web, par e-mails, par téléphone, verbalement ou dans certains ouvrages ufologiques jusqu'au jour de la mise en ligne des statistiques. Ces statistiques donnent donc un aperçu du phénomène OVNI par rapport à la base, mais on peut penser que les grandes lignes sont respectées (aucune certitude). Cependant, pour que la valeur de ce travail augmente en crédibilité ou représentativité, il faut absolument que tous les ufologues, associations d'ufologie ou témoins transmettent au RNCSC le descriptif d'observations qui ne seraient pas référencées, et il y en a encore beaucoup. Par ailleurs, ces statistiques s'appuient sur des témoignages d'observations et par conséquent, sur du subjectif et ne peut donc avoir aucune valeur scientifique à l'heure actuelle. Il y aura des mises à jour régulièrement en cours d'année, avec modification des cartes et graphiques et rectifications d'erreurs d'extraction.
